Human Resources Generalist

Job Description

Pacific Staffing is partnering with our client to identify a skilled HR Generalist to support daily human resources operations, employee relations, and compliance across a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. This role is ideal for an HR professional who excels at balancing hands-on administrative work with thoughtful employee support, clear communication, and strong judgment. The HR Generalist will play a key role in recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, payroll support, leave management, and HR compliance while helping maintain a positive, engaged workplace culture.

100% Onsite in Sacramento
Contract Role for 8 to 10 weeks
Pay: $35-$40/Hour (DOE)

Responsibilities:

Serve as first point of contact for employee HR questions; support coaching, counseling, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, including postings, screening, interviews, reference checks, and onboarding.
Facilitate new hire orientation and ensure compliance with documentation requirements.
Assist with benefits enrollment, qualifying life events, COBRA, and vendor issue resolution.
Support payroll processing by reviewing timecards, auditing employee data, and processing changes.
Coordinate leaves of absence (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, workers' compensation) and maintain required documentation.
Support annual performance reviews, goal setting, and personnel record maintenance.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws; maintain HR records and support audits.
Coordinate training programs, compliance education, and certification tracking.
Maintain HRIS records, prepare HR correspondence, update job descriptions, and generate HR reports.

Skills & Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
Strong knowledge of federal and California employment laws.
Experience with leave administration, workers' compensation, HRIS, and payroll systems.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking abilities.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and build positive working relationships.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office; HR certifications (SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred.
