Experienced Litigation Associate - Family Law

Job Overview A law firm seeks an experienced Litigation Associate to join its team in Potomac, Maryland, serving clients in Maryland and Washington, D.C. The firm specializes in family law matters, including divorce, custody, and property division. The ideal candidate will have significant litigation experience and be ready to manage an active caseload with client responsibility. Duties Manage an active caseload with attorney support and mentorship. Meet directly with clients and develop case strategy. Draft motions, pleadings, memoranda, and other litigation documents. Prepare and respond to discovery requests. Review and organize financial, business, and evidentiary records. Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation. Conduct depositions and witness preparation. Attend hearings, settlement conferences, and trials. Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff. Requirements 2+ years of litigation experience (family law experience preferred). Strong legal writing and advocacy skills. Comfortable communicating with clients, opposing counsel, and courts. Sound judgment and professionalism. Strong organizational and case-management skills. Motivated to develop into an outstanding family law attorney. Judicial clerkship experience is valuable. Education Juris Doctor (JD) degree. Certifications Licensed to practice law in Maryland and Washington, D.C. Skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
