Responsibilities

• Draw quality blood samples from patients of all age groups, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures.
• Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring accurate labeling and documentation in accordance with safety and quality standards.
• Verify patient demographic information and confirm tube labels in the presence of the patient to maintain specimen integrity.
• Maintain a professional and safe environment, adhering to all policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
• Provide clear explanations to patients regarding collection procedures to foster a trusting environment.
• Accurately maintain records and documentation relevant to specimen collection and patient information.
• Perform multiple duties in high-volume settings, managing priorities efficiently while delivering error-free work.
• Travel and flexible working hours, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime, to cover multiple locations as needed.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors focused on process excellence, confidentiality, and customer service.

Required Skills

• Excellent phlebotomy skills with experience in pediatric and geriatric collections, including capillary draws.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for documentation and specimen handling.
• Effective communication skills to interact openly with patients, peers, and supervisors.
• Proficiency in keyboard and data entry tasks related to patient information and specimen tracking.
• Reliability and a valid driver's license with a clean driving record, if applicable.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
• 1-3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections; 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
• Customer service experience in retail or service industries highly preferred.
• Availability to work Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel across multiple locations as needed.
