Performs a wide range of clinical laboratory tests on various biological specimens to support accurate patient diagnosis and treatment. Ensures quality and safety protocols are followed while delivering timely results. Responsibilities:
- Conducts pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing on patient specimens.
- Performs proper specimen collection, handling, labeling, transportation, and storage.
- Evaluates and documents the quality control checks and validates test results.
- Adheres to HIPAA guidelines and maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Prioritizes lab orders based on urgency, such as STAT or routine, and communicates critical findings promptly.
- Supervises and trains laboratory trainees, assistants, and clerks as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, biological sciences, chemical sciences, or related field.
- Valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license in California.
- Current certification from ASCP or NCA preferred.
- At least two years of recent clinical laboratory experience required; three years preferred.
- Proficient in EPIC/Beaker; experience with WellSky is a plus.
- Current BLS certification and appropriate license if applicable.
