About the Opportunity We’re supporting a search for an Accounting Manager with a growing family-owned commercial construction and architectural millwork organization in Maryland. This role will lead the accounting function, own month‑end close, prepare financial reporting, and provide business insight to leadership. The company is growing quickly, and this position offers direct visibility to ownership and the opportunity to help strengthen accounting processes as the business scales. The current accountant is retiring, and the goal is to bring someone on quickly to allow for knowledge transfer. What You’ll Do You’ll lead accounting operations with a focus on month‑end close, reporting, financial analysis, tax filings, and project accounting. Key Areas of Focus Own all accounting functions and month‑end close Prepare financial statements and management reports Provide financial analysis and business insight Manage general ledger, journal entries, and reconciliations Oversee accounts receivable and accounting operations Handle monthly tax filings in MD, DC, VA, and DE Support project accounting and job costing Help improve inventory and accounting practices Manage Billing Clerk and AP functions as the team grows Who You Are You are an accounting professional with strong construction accounting experience and the ability to take ownership of the accounting function. You are comfortable managing month‑end close, financial statements, project accounting, and multi‑state tax filings. You would do well here if you are organized, hands‑on, and interested in joining a growing company where accounting has direct visibility to ownership. Preferred Experience & Attributes Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Construction accounting experience Strong financial statement experience Month‑end close experience Multi‑state tax filing experience Project accounting experience Sage 50 experience preferred AIA billing familiarity is a plus Ability to support and improve accounting processes as the company grows Why This Role Matters This role matters because the company is growing and needs an Accounting Manager who can provide stronger reporting, financial insight, and accounting structure.
