Home Health Billing & Collection Specialist

Description Position will be remote, but some in-office hours are possible. Candidate will ideally reside in Ohio. Looking for experience in home health billing and knowledge of DDE. Someone who is well versed in private pay, all home health payors, has a strong medical collection background, and is able to take on new tasks easily. As a Home Health Billing and Collections Specialist, you will perform daily billing and collection operations for the Home Health Revenue Cycle Department. You will ensure that patient accounts are handled in compliance with Interim Healthcare’s policy and regulatory standards. What we offer our Home Health Billing & Collection Specialist Competitive pay and benefits Full‑time, 8:30 am – 5 pm, M‑F; remote with some possible in‑office hours Daily Pay option available Responsibilities Initiate and maintain complete and accurate patient billing records while safeguarding patient confidentiality to ensure regulatory compliance with state and federal laws. Identify and implement system enhancements related to industry trends to improve overall performance and outcomes. Perform accurate cash posting and balance the monies received from insurance plans by the end of each month. Track and process all over‑payments/under‑payments to ensure the collection of balances owed/received is precise and appropriate. Always maintain proper payment of all state/federal revenues to ensure correct rates are paid, in accordance with federal regulation. Accurately process payments to nursing facilities for patients with Medicaid, coordinating all admissions, deaths, bed‑hold days, transfers, and discharges. Bill all insurance plans for denials and/or collection of payments while maintaining timely filing of all claims. Maintain a positive relationship with nursing homes, health information departments, accounts payable department, and other providers to ensure quality service, quick response time and accurate payments. Review monthly aging for trouble spots and past‑due accounts while running the month‑end billing process and reconciliation to improve cash flow. Monitor and maintain days in accounts receivable at or below 60‑90 days to ensure cash flow. Report any issues to the Revenue Cycle Manager. Qualifications Associate degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) in a related field required or equivalent education, training, and experience. Minimum 3‑5 years’ experience in home health billing. Recent experience working with popular home health billing software. Knowledge of DDE is a must.
