Position/Title: Maintenance Technician

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-exempt

Reports to: Plant Manager

\n

\n

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

\n

To install, dismantle, maintain, set up and adjust machinery, mechanical service equipment,

\n

including ventilating, heating systems, building repairs, all types of pipelines, fittings and

\n

hydraulics as required for new construction or maintenance. To analyze and correct electrical

\n

problems. Repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls.

\n

\n

CORE & ESSENTIAL:

\n

TASKS:

\n

• Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on equipment. Plans for and takes corrective

\n

action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum

\n

production and quality.

\n

• Analyzes circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or

\n

replace electronic devices and systems.

\n

• Performs varied mechanical, electrical, plumbing duties. Dismantling, moving, repairing and

\n

installing equipment.

\n

• Installs or troubleshoot equipment from blueprints or schematics.

\n

• Makes preventive maintenance checks on mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic

\n

equipment. Works with Management to schedule upgrades or repairs. Test all equipment

\n

after repairs or adjustments.

\n

• All start-ups and shut downs of equipment shall be in accordance with company safety

\n

procedures for machine activation and with OSHA requirements.

\n

• Advise and caution operators and supervisors about potential problems and inherent dangers.

\n

Use proper lock out tag out methods when perform maintenance on equipment.

\n

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

\n

• Any and all duties as assigned.

\n

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

\n

Possession of at least a high school diploma or GED is required and a post-secondary degree is

\n

preferred. Vocational school or technical training in electrical, industrial electronics, pneumatics,

\n

hydraulics, HVAC, welding is preferred. Valid state motor vehicle license to operate company

\n

vehicles truck, tow motors. Ability to read specifications, schematics and manuals. Ability to

\n

read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos. Ability to add, subtract,

\n

multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and

\n

decimals. Must be able to be on call 24 hours 7 days a week to handle breakdown and repairs.

\n

Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. constant use of protective gear). Analytical skills

\n

and attention to detail. Teamwork and good communication skills. Able to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers. Work effectively to meet or exceed productivity

\n

goals. Must work effectively with diverse types of people. Must possess verbal and written

\n

communication skills. Ability to work overtime and flexible schedule/shifts. Maintains a positive attitude and contributes to a positive work environment. Experience operating a dolly, shrink-

\n

wrap machine, pallet jack, forklift and other equipment. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must possess excellent verbal and

\n

written communication skills. Ability to be on call, work extended shifts, and work on weekend

\n

shifts is required. Driving is a requirement for this position. Therefore, must have the ability to

\n

travel domestically via operating a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver license and driving

\n

record which is acceptable to our insurance provider. Must have a vehicle in good working

\n

condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements. The ability to travel

\n

by plane and/or overnight travel may also be required.

\n

\n

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

\n

Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise and effective manner. Ability to use a telephone

\n

for communication. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility.

\n

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Sit, walk, stand

\n

and/or kneel for extended time periods. Employee will be standing and moving for the entire shift.

\n

The employee is required to sit, climb, balance, carry, push, pull, reach, and adjust body position

\n

to bend, stoop, walk, turn, pivot, sit, and stand for long periods of time. Ability to climb, traverse

\n

and maneuver on equipment and/or ladders while adhering to fall protection requirements as

\n

necessary. Able to climb and descend stairs numerous times in a shift. Ability to climb, rig, stoop,

\n

crouch and bend. Carry, push, pull, reach and lift up to 50 lbs. Must wear all required personal

\n

protective equipment in designated areas and use necessary care to avoid placing self and others

\n

in an unsafe environment. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to

\n

accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Sufficient

\n

manual dexterity required to operate equipment. Physical ability to operate dolly, shrink-wrap

\n

machine, pallet jack, and/or forklift and all other equipment utilized in this position. Tolerate

\n

inclement weather, including heat and cold. Normal range of tolerance to household and other

\n

types of typical industrial/construction chemicals and solvents. The manufacturing plant is not

\n

climate controlled. Must have the ability to travel by plane, operate a motor vehicle, maintain a

\n

valid state motor vehicle driver license, and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record.

\n

Overnight travel may be required.

\n
