Payroll & Benefits Specialist (Bilingual - Cantonese or Mandarin)

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll & Benefits Specialist to oversee end-to-end payroll processing and manage employee benefits administration for our New York team. In this role, you will ensure seamless HR operations while providing bilingual support to our staff and leadership in the title insurance industry. Professional fluency in English as well as either Cantonese or Mandarin is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with federal, New York State, and local tax regulations.
• Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, 401(k), dental, vision, and leave policies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and HR policies in English, Cantonese, or Mandarin.
• Manage new hire onboarding and offboarding, including document collection, system updates, and orientation.
• Reconcile monthly benefits billings, audit payroll records, and maintain confidential employee files within the payroll system.
• Stay updated on changes in New York labor laws and payroll compliance standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
• Fluent in English and either Cantonese or Mandarin (spoken and written).
• Strong knowledge of New York State payroll regulations, tax laws, and wage requirements.
• Background in title insurance, real estate, or professional financial services is strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with modern payroll and HRIS software.
• High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and total discretion with sensitive information.
