Health Communications Specialist

Summary

This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Medicare (CM), Division of Provider Information Planning and Development (DPIPD).

As a Health Communications Specialist, GS-1001-14, you will develop and market Medicare Fee-For-Service (FFS) health care provider education products.

Duties

Help

  • Serves as a technical authority and lead for Fee-for-Service provider education content.
  • Plans, develops, implements, and evaluates FFS health care provider education content in multiple communication channels using plain language, user

    experience principles, and data analytics.
  • Acts as a consultant and advisor to Division management on policies, procedures, and critical issues relating to Medicare FFS provider education that have a major impact on the Division, Group, and/or Center management.
  • Establishes standards and expectations for customer service to internal CMS staff and management.
  • Provides feedback to the COR and CO regarding contractor performance for regular contractor performance assessments and for use in future procurement efforts.

In order to qualify for the GS-14 , you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include: 1) Planing, developing, implementing, and evaluating health care education content using plain language, user experience principles, and data analytics; 2) Establishing and maintaining internal and external partnerships to plan, implement, and evaluate communication products and/or activities; AND 3) Analyzing quantitative or qualitative data to identify, assess, or improve operational efficiency and/or work products.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills, and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Time-in-Grade: To be eligible, current Federal employees must have served at least 52 weeks (one year) at the next lower grade level from the position/grade level(s) to which they are applying.
