Examiner Physician Assistant

As an Examiner, you will be conducting Compensation & Pension (C&P) Examinations for Veterans applying for disability compensation from the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in relation to their in‑service injury claims. The role involves reviewing the claim, performing focused assessments of claimed injuries, reviewing medical records, and potentially rendering a medical opinion based on the record review and completed C&P exam. Charting from home may be required. Each examiner plays a vital role in the overall experience of the Veteran. These Medical Disability Examinations are crucial in the VA’s process for determining benefits Veterans can receive as a result of service‑connected health issues. Our clinical insights facilitate access to treatment subspecialists when necessary, creating continuity of care. Clinical Examiners work through a web‑based examination form in a proprietary online system to capture patient information. Candidates must hold an active license, work independently and collaboratively, and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, with basic computer skills also required. Pay: Base + Incentive $131,372.80 – $161,372.80 Job Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive medical disability examinations, including review of medical history, physical examinations, and assessment of how disabilities affect daily living; 10% travel to other LSGS Clinics. Review and analyze medical records, diagnostic test results, and other documentation to develop a full understanding of the veteran’s health condition. Render objective, evidence‑based medical opinions regarding the extent of the veteran’s health issues and impact on work and activities. Submit findings, collaborate with the QA team, and manage workload within the case‑management system. Coordinate with healthcare professionals, specialists, and experts to obtain additional medical information. Document findings in clear and concise reports following VA guidelines and contractual obligations. Partner with Loyal Source departments to utilize resources, ensure support, and meet deadlines. Effectively manage time and confirm availability and scheduling for all C&P exams. Ensure compliance with laws, regulations, VA training requirements, and MDE program requirements. Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance for all patient information. This position does not involve prescribing or treatment planning. Provide an exceptional experience for each veteran during examinations. Qualifications Graduated from an accredited Physician Assistant program and hold a valid, unrestricted PA license in the United States. Minimum of 1 year’s experience working as a Physician Assistant. Previous experience conducting medical disability examinations or a related field preferred. Basic Life Support certification (current). Military or veteran community familiarity preferred. Completion of specialized training in Medical Disability Evaluations or occupational health is advantageous. Proficient in clinical assessment, interpretation of diagnostic tests, and formulating evidence‑based medical opinions. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively. Commitment to ethical standards, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance. Detail‑oriented, ensuring accuracy and alignment with VA standards. Customer‑focused with a sense of urgency and ability to adapt to changing situations. Authorized to work in the U.S.; compliance with federal contractor requirements. Reasoning ability: apply common sense, follow detailed instructions, and solve variable‑based problems. Technological ability: competent with MS Word, Outlook, Adobe PDF, web‑based platforms, electronic medical records, Teams, and LMS. Physical requirements: pronounce ability to sit/stand for long periods, lift up to 15 lbs, and perform full‑range motion examinations.
