Candidates can explore broader opportunities across the organization at Role Description The Emergency Department Registered Nurse provides direct, patient-centered care in a fast-paced emergency setting at Lifepoint Health’s facility in Hickory, NC. This full-time, on‑site role includes triaging patients, performing assessments, administering medications and treatments, and monitoring responses to care. The nurse collaborates closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to stabilize patients, implement care plans, and prepare individuals and families for ongoing treatment or discharge. Daily responsibilities include maintaining accurate documentation, adhering to established clinical protocols and safety standards, and responding promptly to emergency situations and codes. The role also involves patient and family education, participation in quality improvement initiatives, and support of a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all. Qualifications Clinical emergency nursing skills, including patient triage, assessment, IV therapy, medication administration, and stabilization of acute and critical conditions. Competence in using EHR systems, monitoring equipment, and other emergency department technologies, with strong attention to detail in documentation. Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff in high-pressure situations. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple patients, maintain composure in emergencies, and apply sound clinical judgment and critical thinking. Commitment to infection control, patient safety, and regulatory compliance, including adherence to hospital policies and professional standards of practice. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina (or compact state eligibility) and current BLS certification; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred or required per facility policy. At least 2 years of recent emergency department RN experience required. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited program; BSN preferred.
