The Contra Costa County Health Services Department is looking to hire a temporary Health Services Timekeeping Technician to our dynamic payroll team! This unit processes timesheets for approximately 4,800 Health Services employees. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting employees with questions about their pay, while processing a high volume of paper timesheets/corrections. This requires reviewing employee information, various Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and applying knowledge of timekeeping, County pay codes, differentials, and other pertinent information, to ensure employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner. Experience: Three (3) years of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience in the preparation, processing, and maintenance of accounting documents and records, at least six (6) months of which included calculating or coding and preparing payroll documents. Desirable Qualifications: Payroll experience in a large government agency Payroll experience with union represented employees CONVICTION HISTORY After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. If you accept a conditional job offer, the Human Resources Department will contact you to schedule a fingerprinting appointment. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law.
