Collections Specialist
Location: The Woodlands, TX
Pay: $25–$28/hour
Job Type: Temp to hire
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Collections Specialist to join our team in The Woodlands. This role will manage an assigned B2B client portfolio while providing exceptional customer service and proactively driving timely payments. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage an assigned portfolio of B2B accounts and proactively reduce outstanding receivables and DSO.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients while providing excellent customer service.
- Review account and invoice status, contact customers regarding past-due balances, obtain payment commitments, and document collection activity in the AR system.
- Research and resolve billing disputes by partnering with Sales and other internal departments.
- Escalate complex or high-risk accounts to the Collections Supervisor or Director as appropriate.
- Review accounts for order release and communicate credit or collection concerns as needed.
- Assist with billing and customer portal invoice submissions based on department and portfolio needs.
- Maintain accurate account records, follow up on outstanding issues, and ensure timely resolution of discrepancies.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of B2B collections experience required.
- Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Experience in Oil & Gas or Transportation/Logistics preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational, follow-up, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage a high-volume workload effectively.
- Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Outlook .
- Positive, dependable, and proactive “can-do” attitude with a strong work ethic.
