Job Title: Outpatient Rehabilitation Coordinator

Job Summary
The outpatient coordinator is responsible for point of contact intake including outpatient scheduling, insurance verification/authorization and providing support to therapy and the operational team members.

Essential Job Functions

• Performs point of contact customer service
• Processes patient registrations including verifying insurance, obtaining authorization, and entering all pertinent information
• Notifies patient of and collects/processes financial obligation
• Maintains departmental patient schedule and census information
• Assists with reconciliation of billing and serves as a liaison with the Accounting Department to resolve issues
• Attends department meetings and in-services as needed
• Schedules and processes walk in appointments
• Performs other support functions as needed
• Assist the occupational and physical therapists as directed with treatment procedures in accordance with clinic policies and procedures as needed

Job Requirements

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Bachelor's Degree preferred

Experience:

• Three years' experience in healthcare with focus on medical billing and patient registration

Licenses/Certifications:

• N/A

Abilities Required

• Proficient in Medicare, Medicaid, and HMO regulations
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Effective written and oral communication skills
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of the financial aspects of outpatient rehabilitation
• Good problem solving and clinical judgment skills
• Demonstrate ability to take initiative, be adaptable and work well independently
• Be well organized, flexible, dependable, and punctual
• Ability to work well with staff, individuals, and participants of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds
• Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office, Excel)

• Normal working condition with adequate lighting and ventilation

• Possible exposure to blood/body fluids/tissues

Physical Requirements:

• Sedentary tasks related to job 70%
• Physical tasks- approximately 30% L-Light Work - Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
