Respiratory Therapist

Willing to rotate between acute and long-term care for three twelve-hour shifts per week with every other weekend. Responsible for patient diagnoses including CHF, COPD, pneumonia, respiratory failure, and respiratory infections. Special procedures include ABG sampling, ventilator management, patient assessment, and pulmonary hygiene. Proficient in the use of specialized equipment such as Hamilton ventilators, Servo-U ventilators, NKV330 (NIV device), Airvo2, and Dream machines. Familiar with airway management devices and suctioning techniques including endotracheal tubes, extubation, intubation assist, nasal airway placement, nasal airway suctioning, oral airway placement, and oropharyngeal suctioning. Skills required include nebulizer use (handheld, T-piece, trach collar) and oxygen therapy (bag and mask, ET tube, high flow nasal cannula, T-piece, and trach collar). Ventilator management experience should include BiPAP, CPAP, troubleshooting high-pressure alarms, and weaning from mechanical ventilation. Call required on nights if possible, approximately once every other week. Weekend shifts required, with a minimum of six weekend shifts within a 13-week contract. Experience with a patient ratio of 1:20 is preferred. Interdisciplinary support includes IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. Experience in adult critical care and emergency department settings is essential. Knowledge of patient demographics from adolescents to geriatrics is necessary. Candidates will float between units as required.
