Director of Finance

Vaco by Highspring has partnered with a rapidly growing logistics organization in the Greater Boston area and they are looking to hire a Director of Finance.Key ResponsibilitiesLead all financial planning and analysis activities, including annual budgets, monthly forecasts, and long-range planning Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and operational reporting packages Partner with executive leadership to provide strategic financial guidance and support key business initiatives Monitor company performance metrics including revenue, gross margin, fuel costs, labor utilization, fleet performance, and EBITDA Manage cash flow forecasting, working capital, and banking relationships Develop and maintain KPI dashboards focused on operational efficiency and profitability Analyze transportation routes, customer profitability, and cost trends to identify improvement opportunities Support pricing strategy, contract analysis, and customer bid processes Ensure compliance with financial regulations, internal controls, tax requirements, and audit standards Lead, mentor, and develop finance and accounting team members Assist with ERP/system enhancements and process improvement initiatives QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required 7 years of progressive finance/accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities Prior experience within logistics, supply chain, distribution, or related industries strongly preferred Strong understanding of operational finance and cost accounting in asset-intensive environments Experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and KPI reporting Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with operations and executive leadership teams Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems Excellent communication and leadership abilities Multi-site or multi-entity operational experience Experience working in a private equity-backed or high-growth environment Knowledge of fleet management metrics, fuel analysis, and transportation cost structures Experience improving processes, reporting capabilities, and financial controls Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
