Associate Attorney - WC Defense & Civil Litigation

Associate Attorney — Civil Litigation & Workers' Compensation Defense We are looking for two dynamic Associate Attorneys to join our team. The ideal candidates will have experience in defending civil litigation and/or workers' compensation cases, though this is preferred and not mandatory. Key Responsibilities (Both Roles) Conduct legal research on a variety of complex legal issues Draft legal documents, including pleadings, motions, and briefs Represent clients in court proceedings Take and defend depositions Assist with case management and trial preparation Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations impacting client cases Civil Litigation Defense Track — Additional Responsibilities Manage a caseload of civil litigation defense matters (which may include automobile accident defense, premises liability, product liability, construction defense, and general commercial/business litigation) from intake through resolution Communicate regularly with clients, insurance adjusters, and opposing counsel Maintain timely, accurate billing and case documentation in accordance with firm and client billing guidelines Workers' Compensation Defense Track — Additional Responsibilities Manage a caseload of workers' compensation defense matters, representing employers and insurance carriers before the WCAB Appear at WCAB hearings, mandatory settlement conferences, and trials Review and evaluate QME/AME medical-legal reports and advise clients accordingly Negotiate case resolutions, including Compromise & Release and Stipulated Findings & Award Coordinate with support staff on EAMS filings (EAMS filing is handled by support staff, not required of the attorney) Skills & Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school Active member in good standing of the California State Bar Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong organizational abilities with the capacity to manage priorities effectively Detail-oriented with robust analytical skills Collaborative and willing to work as part of a team Civil litigation and/or workers' compensation defense experience is preferred, but not required Compensation & Logistics Employment type: Full-time Compensation: $100,000–$170,000, commensurate with experience and position type Work arrangement: Remote, hybrid, or on-site, depending on the candidate Benefits 401(k) with company match (effective October 1, 2026) Paid time off Workplace flexibility Reasonable billing requirements #J-18808-Ljbffr NACBA
