Office of the New York City Comptroller – Part‑time College Aide – Web Developer – Posted Mar 11 Note: This is a part‑time role for current college students only. The selected candidate may work up to 17 1/2 hours per week. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student in a college or graduate school. Position Overview The Office of the Comptroller’s Bureau of Information Systems provides technology support for key business functions and charter‑mandated responsibilities of the Comptroller’s Office. Under the direction of Senior Website Developer – Graphic Designer, the College Aide – Web Developer will update websites and intranet, develop interactive Google Charts, and produce monthly and quarterly reports. The role requires strong communication skills, teamwork, and quick learning. Responsibilities Update content on the Comptroller’s website, intranet, and Audit Committee site using the WordPress admin interface. Use knowledge of WordPress core and plugins in a development environment for the Comptroller’s website. Create interactive Google Charts from Excel data; customize charts with JavaScript using Google Charts guides. Code new features using PHP, HTML, CSS, and JS within the Bootstrap framework. Facilitate testing of new code and incorporate required feedback before production. Perform other duties and assignments as may be required. Minimum Qualifications Assignment Level I: Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon continuance as a student. Assignment Level II (Information Technology): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing, or a closely related field, plus 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Assignment Level III (Information Technology Fellow): Matriculation at an accredited college or graduate school. Employment is conditioned upon a specific course of study in information technology, computer science, management information systems, data processing or another area relevant to the IT project(s) assigned, plus 9 semester credits in an acceptable course of study. Appointments are made by the Technology Steering Committee through the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications. Preferred Qualifications Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Excellent administrative and computer skills (Microsoft Suite products). Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Proficient in Excel. Knowledge of Google Drive, WordPress, Bootstrap, jQuery, PHP and Adobe Photoshop. Additional Information Maximum tenure for all Assignment Levels in the title of College Aide is six years. No student may be employed more than half‑time in any week in which classes are in session. Students may be employed full‑time during their vacation periods.
