Superintendent

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking a Superintendent who will provide coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a particular area of discipline. The role focuses on developing and enhancing customer relationships by providing excellent service. This position offers opportunities at both level 1 and level 2, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Plan and implement to ensure materials, equipment, and inspections support project schedule. Review construction documents for completeness and constructability, understand contract documents, and coordinate plans with design engineers. Develop and manage project schedule, site logistics plan, utilize tools and equipment, and collaborate with project partner superintendents. Coach, supervise, and develop team members; conduct orientations, planning sessions, site meetings, and supervise project partners. Interview, hire, transfer, and dismiss team members. Ensure proper task coding, lead and track work progress, handle team member training, and conduct career development discussions. Build effective relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels. Lead by example, offer coaching and feedback, and manage performance. Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance; recognize and mitigate unfavorable conditions and seek process improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; OR 10 years trade experience. Current driver’s license. Ability to fulfill development to closeout responsibilities for multiple, complex projects. Detail-oriented, able to organize and manage multiple project tasks. Basic understanding of construction law and business practices. Intermediate Microsoft Office skills. Positive, professional attitude and strong customer service skills. Ability to interpret and communicate company policies. Effective communication and active listening skills; openness to diverse input and feedback; ability to travel up to 100%. SUPERVISOR I (Level 1) Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 5 years construction management or related experience. Base Pay Range: $111,400 Min – $167,100 Max. SUPERVISOR II (Level 2) Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 8 years construction management or related experience. Base Pay Range: $130,100 Min – $195,200 Max. Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL – 5%; Seattle, WA and Portland, OR – 10%; Washington, D.C. – 12.5%. Base pay is positioned within the range based on factors such as individual knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity. This position is eligible for Mortenson’s incentive plan.
