Growing together.VP, Business Development is responsible for creating and executing a comprehensive strategy to build expanded business opportunities within their portfolio of markets/region. Target markets may include existing and greenfield markets and growth may be built through geographic or product expansion.This leader is accountable for gaining direct knowledge of state priorities, translating that knowledge into tactical development plans that leverage UHG capabilities, and building and maintaining relationships with key influencers and stakeholders. The VP is responsible for identifying and developing relationships and partnerships that drive competitive differentiation and leading organization support for these relationships and partnerships to ensure integration into the broader business strategy. The leader is accountable for developing the overall win strategy to enable the development of innovative and differentiated solutions, compelling proof points, and unique approaches to partnership with providers, community and faith-based organizations and other stakeholders. The leader will be the key strategy lead for the market, advocating for appropriate operational capabilities, identifying opportunities to enhance the operating model, and driving overall investment and resource commitments. You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges. For all hires in the Minneapolis or Washington, D.C. area, you will be required to work in the office a minimum of four days per week.Primary Responsibilities:Develop strategy to enable organizational expansion into new geographies or the addition of new products and/or populations to an existing relationshipBuild local relationships to influence program design and ensure competitive positioningDevelop a clear understanding of the political dynamics related to the growth opportunity and partner with internal and external resources to ensure optimal organizational positionTranslate state program goals into meaningful and actional growth strategyIdentify potential unique partnerships, develop relationships, and translate partnerships into competitive position and organizational assetDrives overall business development strategy in partnership with key senior leaders to manage through decision points and investment strategies to ensure successful bid outcomesManages market specific investment budgetsServe as resource to internal teams to translate state goals and strategic directionActively drive procurement response content in partnership with leaders and subject matter experts to ensure differentiation and alignment to state strategyIdentify and maintain relationships that will inform strategic direction including providers, community and faith leaders, and other stakeholdersServe as spokesperson externally and represent the organization as asked with policy makers and stakeholdersServe as external expert on organizational capabilities and advocate for program design elements with policy makers, providers, and stakeholdersYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:8+ years of business development experience4+ years procurement experienceMedicaid expertise and knowledge of health plan management (network, operations, clinical)Proven effective at building mutually beneficial executive-level relationships, both internally and externallyAbility to travel up to 50% and work flexible hours to accommodate procurements*All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The salary for this role will range from $159,300 - $273,200 annually based on full-time employment.
