Locum Tenens Oncology Physician (Medical Oncology / Hem-Onc)

 

Location: Iowa (Community-Based Practice)

Assignment Type: Locum Tenens

Start: June 2026 (or as soon as credentialed)

Schedule: Flexible – up to 4 days/week | No Call

Overview

A well-established, physician-led, multispecialty group in the Midwest is seeking a Board-Certified Oncology Physician to provide locum tenens coverage for a leave of absence beginning in June 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive, collaborative environment with strong clinical infrastructure and a manageable patient volume—ideal for physicians seeking flexibility without call responsibilities.

Practice Setting

• Outpatient-focused oncology practice within a regional medical center

• Collaborative care model with:

  • Dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

  • Experienced nursing and administrative staff

• Access to additional subspecialty support as needed

• Opportunity to expand into hematology (optional, not required)

Schedule & Volume

• Flexible scheduling – up to 4 days per week

• Clinic hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

• No call required

• Average patient volume: ~20 patients/day 

  Clinical Scope

• Primarily adult oncology patient population

• Mix includes:

  • ~60% Medicare

  • ~30% commercial

  • ~10% Medicaid/federal programs 

• No required procedures (biopsies handled by APP or referred out) 

Requirements

• Board Certified in Medical Oncology (Hematology welcome but not required)

• Active state license (or willingness to obtain via expedited pathway/ IMLC)

• DEA and controlled substance registration

• BLS certification

Technology

• EMR: Epic (remote access supported)
