Controller

Position Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing strategic financial guidance to leadership. This role manages the day-to-day accounting function while supporting budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and business decision-making. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Oversee month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate reporting Develop and maintain internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities Monitor cash flow, working capital, and liquidity needs Analyze financial results and provide actionable recommendations to leadership Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and company policies Prepare financial analyses, KPI reporting, and board/executive presentations Support operational leaders with financial insights to drive business performance Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA preferred 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience Previous leadership or management experience Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
