2PM Talent is partnering with a growing retail environments and design-build business in Chicago to appoint a Head of Production.

\n

\n

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for the performance and development of the Project Management and Production function. The successful candidate will lead a team of Project Managers while establishing the structure, processes and accountability required to consistently deliver complex retail environment projects.

\n

\n

We are looking for an experienced people leader who understands the full lifecycle of custom retail projects, from initial client brief and design development through engineering, sourcing, fabrication, logistics and installation.

\n

\n

Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead, manage and develop a team of Project Managers, setting clear expectations around performance, accountability and project delivery.
\n
• Provide senior oversight across a portfolio of complex retail environment and design-build projects.
\n
• Establish and improve processes, workflows and project management standards across the business.
\n
• Ensure projects are delivered against agreed timelines, budgets, quality standards and client expectations.
\n
• Work closely with Account Management, Design, Engineering, Estimating and Sourcing teams to improve communication and project handoffs.
\n
• Oversee relationships with external manufacturing, fabrication and installation partners.
\n
• Identify project risks early and support Project Managers in resolving operational and commercial challenges.
\n
• Improve visibility and reporting across project status, capacity, timelines and profitability.
\n
• Support the continued growth of the business by building a scalable, high-performing Project Management and Production function.

Experience

\n

We are particularly interested in candidates with experience within one or more of the following:

\n

\n
• Retail environments
\n
• Store fixtures and permanent displays
\n
• Point-of-purchase (POP) displays
\n
• Retail design and build
\n
• Experiential environments
\n
• Branded environments
\n
• Custom fabrication
\n

\n

\n

You should have significant experience managing and developing Project Managers or multidisciplinary project delivery teams.

\n

Direct manufacturing experience is not essential. Candidates who have successfully delivered projects through outsourced manufacturing and fabrication partners are highly relevant.

\n

\n

What we're looking for

\n

The successful candidate will be a strong people manager first and foremost. You'll be comfortable developing individuals, setting standards and holding teams accountable, while retaining enough hands-on project knowledge to step into complex situations when required.

\n

You'll understand how Design, Engineering, Estimating, Sourcing, Production and Installation need to work together to deliver custom retail projects successfully.

\n

\n

This would suit an established Head of Production, Director of Project Management, Production Director or senior Project Management leader ready to take broader ownership of a function.
