Position Title: BAS New Construction Technician

The BAS New Construction Technician will play a critical role in delivering complex building automation systems on new construction projects, often owning significant portions of a project from programming through commissioning and checkout. The right individual will be empowered to "run with" assigned scopes of work and will be relied upon as a technical authority on job sites.

The Boss:
The BAS New Construction Technician will work closely with project managers and leadership who value experienced technicians that can operate independently in the field. While the role does not carry formal project management responsibility, leadership expects strong communication, professional judgment, and the confidence to engage with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and other trades on job sites. Management emphasizes trust, accountability, and technical credibility.

The Position:
This position focuses on new construction work and is programming-intensive. The technician will be responsible for implementing, programming, testing, and commissioning building automation systems on construction projects. Unlike service roles that require frequent site-to-site movement, this position is typically assigned to a job site for extended periods, allowing for continuity and ownership of the work. The role requires a blend of strong technical skills and field presence, with the ability to coordinate effectively with project stakeholders while maintaining the company's scope and standards.

Essential Functions (Other duties may be assigned):

• Program, test, and commission building automation systems for new construction projects, including air handlers, hot water systems, chilled water plants, boilers, chillers, pumps, and related equipment
• Develop and implement control sequences, graphics, and system functionality in the field
• Take ownership of assigned portions of a project and execute work from initial setup through final checkout
• Interface professionally with general contractors, mechanical contractors, and other trades on job sites
• Communicate effectively with project managers regarding progress, challenges, and coordination needs
• Maintain focus on the company's scope of work and exercise judgment when responding to job site requests or changes
• Support commissioning activities and ensure systems perform as designed

Qualifications:

• Several years of hands-on field experience as a building automation or controls technician
• Strong programming capability with building automation systems
• Ability to work independently in the field with minimal oversight
• Comfort interacting with contractors and construction teams in an active job site environment
• Experience with complex mechanical systems and control strategies

Education and Experience:

• Formal certifications are not required
• Manufacturer-specific training or certifications are beneficial but not mandatory
• Practical, verifiable field experience is strongly preferred over purely academic credentials
