PURCHASING DIRECTOR

The Director of Procurement provides strategic leadership for the organization's global procurement function, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant acquisition of goods, materials, equipment, and services that enable safe and efficient operations. This role establishes and oversees procurement governance, drives sourcing excellence, and ensures adherence to applicable industry regulations, health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards, and corporate policies.Working collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Drilling, Maintenance, Logistics, Finance, and Legal, the Director develops procurement strategies that optimize supplier performance, reduce total cost of ownership, strengthen supply chain resilience, and mitigate operational risk. Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Logistics, Finance, or related fields.Master’s degree preferred.12-15 years’ experience in Supply Chain Management or a related discipline, with a focus on sourcing, procurement, or category management.Minimum of 10 years in a senior leadership role withing the oil, energy, or industrial sectors.Ability to analyze large and complex sets of data and deliver insights to stakeholders.Must be able to establish and maintain good working relationships with team, management, and departments.Proven experience in supply chain management, with a strong understanding of end-to-end processes.Advanced analytical and problem-solving abilities, including the capacity to interpret and act on complex data sets.Preferred QualificationsExcellent Microsoft Office (MS Excel) skills and Oracle experience.Knowledge of international procurement practices and its financial effects.Excellent cross-functional skills with the ability to challenge the status quo and make complex decisions.Proven ability to build credibility, get buy-in and commitment with internal and external stakeholders.Skilled at coaching, mentoring, and developing talent.Experience must include negotiating commercial terms and service level agreements for indirect services.Ability to be innovative in issues related to strategic sourcing and supplier relations.Strong organizational and time management skills.Excellent communication and people skills.Ability to work independently and exercise judgment.Exceptional understanding of purchasing, practices, and procedures in the drilling industry.Exceptional understanding and knowledge of industry suppliers, customers, and competitors.Sense of urgency.Internal stakeholder satisfaction#LI-JA1Work Authorization Requirement: Candidates must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Nabors does not provide work visa sponsorship for this position, now or in the future.Develop and execute the organization's procurement and sourcing strategy to support corporate objectives, operational excellence, and sustainable growth.Establish, implement, and continuously improve procurement policies, procedures, governance, and best practices that ensure consistency, compliance, and operational efficiency.Directs a corporate buying team of fifteen professionals managing more than $1B in annual expenditure on multiple business units’ equipment, parts, consumables, and services.Implement process redesign to reduce total cost of ownership elements and mitigate risks to operations.Implement cycle time reduction initiatives to accelerate domestic requisition to receipt timelines and improve service levels.Partner with Corporate internal audit to resolve compliance gaps and implement stronger adherence to procedures.Lead cross functional team efforts with strategic sourcing, operations, projects, accounting, and logistics.Lead strategic sourcing and supply chain initiatives that optimize supplier performance, reduce procurement cycle times, lower total cost of ownership, and improve overall business performance.Develop, monitor, and report procurement key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, and performance metrics to measure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.Oversee the procurement of capital equipment, materials, MRO supplies, inventory, and services to ensure uninterrupted support of global operations.Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships through effective sourcing, contract negotiations, performance management, and continuous improvement initiatives.Promote ethical sourcing, transparency, and responsible procurement practices throughout the supply chain.Support internal and external audits by ensuring procurement processes, controls, and documentation meet compliance requirements.Provide strategic leadership and direction for procurement, sourcing, purchasing, contracts, supplier management, and procurement analytics functions.Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain a high-performing procurement organization while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.Establish departmental goals, performance expectations, succession planning, and employee development initiatives that strengthen organizational capability.Lead organizational change initiatives that improve procurement effectiveness, increase operational efficiency, and support business transformation.Foster strong cross-functional partnerships with Operations, Engineering, Drilling, Maintenance, Logistics, Finance, Legal, and other business units to align procurement strategies with organizational priorities.Oversee procurement analytics to identify spending trends, sourcing opportunities, supplier performance, cost savings, and operational improvement initiatives.Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and quality of procurement data used for executive reporting, strategic planning, and business decision-making.Develop executive dashboards and reports that communicate procurement performance, supplier metrics, financial results, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.Provide timely analysis and actionable recommendations that support executive decision-making and cross-functional business initiatives.Manage ad hoc procurement analysis and executive requests while meeting stakeholder expectations and business deadlines.Represent the procurement function in executive leadership meetings, strategic planning initiatives, and cross-functional governance committees.Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, market conditions, and supply chain risks to identify opportunities that strengthen procurement capabilities and enhance competitive advantage.Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.Full timePosting Date: 2026-08-12
