General Production Worker

This role supports a fast-paced printing and packaging operation by setting up and operating folding and related production equipment, monitoring product quality, and preparing finished materials for the next stage of processing or shipment. You will follow established procedures, use basic tools and computer systems, and work both independently and as part of a team to ensure accurate, high-quality output.

Responsibilities

• Determine the type of fold required for each job based on current production specifications.
• Determine and print all paperwork needed for each job, ensuring it matches the job requirements.
• Follow all required procedures and adhere to established production workflows.
• Select the appropriate folding sections to be used for each job.
• Insert the correct folding gates and blanks to achieve the required fold.
• Source and retrieve printed materials that need to be folded.
• Set up the feeder to properly fit and feed sheets into the folding equipment.
• Adjust and set rollers to achieve consistent and accurate folding results.
• Set fold gates to ensure correct fold quality, alignment, and finished size.
• Install and adjust slitters or scorers when needed to complete the specified fold.
• Obtain quality assurance sign-off for each job before and during production as required.
• Continuously monitor the quality and size of finished leaflets throughout the job run.
• Box folded product for application, further processing, or shipping, depending on the next stage.
• Use hand tools and production equipment safely and correctly during set up and operation.
• Perform general production tasks such as packing, catching, inspection, and machine operation as needed.
• Comply with all departmental Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Employee Handbook policies, including attendance, and all safety rules and standards.
• Work overtime as needed to complete tasks and meet production schedules.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production and operational needs.

• Ability to count and measure accurately to support production setup and quality checks.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure correct folds, sizes, and packaging quality.
• Ability to work independently as a self-starter and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a production environment.
• Ability to follow written, oral, and verbal directions from supervisors and team leaders.
• Ability to respond professionally to questions from managers, team members, and customers.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures related to production and folding.
• Experience with general production, packaging, packing, inspection, and machine operation.
• Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively in a production setting.
• Ability to use a computer to navigate and understand specifications and job documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Knowledge of printing production processes is a plus.
• Experience with gluing systems and glue detection systems is a plus.
• Experience setting up sensors, scanners, and vision systems is a plus.
• Packaging experience in the pharmaceutical or food packaging industry is a plus.
• Previous experience as a packer, catcher, or in general production is beneficial.
• Familiarity with inspection practices in a manufacturing or printing environment is advantageous.

Work Environment

The role is based in a climate-controlled warehouse and production area that is humidified and maintained in accordance with government regulations. You will work in a printing and folding environment where you are regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and print chemicals typical of printing operations. The work area includes moving mechanical parts and production machinery, and the noise level is moderately high, consistent with an active manufacturing setting. You will work around folding machines, feeders, rollers, slitters, scorers, and related equipment, using hand tools and computer systems as part of daily tasks. Overtime may be required to meet production demands, and you will be expected to follow all safety protocols, Good Manufacturing Practices, and standard operating procedures while maintaining appropriate work attire for a manufacturing and printing environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Charles, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.25/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
