Senior Firmware EngineerThis Senior engineering role will help our team to research, develop, maintain, enhance, and customize the embedded solutions which drive HID's Secure Issuance FARGO printers and laminators so that they continue to be the most innovative and compelling solutions in the marketplace. We are a high-tech software company headquartered in Austin, TX, with over 4,500 worldwide employees.As our Senior Firmware Engineer, you'll support HID's success by:Analyzing and evaluating embedded solution requirements; collaborating with colleagues and customers to gather and define product requirementsAssisting in product design and architecture developmentDesigning, developing, and maintaining embedded solutions to satisfy documented requirementsFacilitating and assisting in the task estimation processWorking and communicating in a cross-functional team environment comprised of firmware engineers, electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, quality assurance engineers, product line managers, customer support representatives, and other stakeholdersInvestigating and analyzing reported defects to resolve them in a timely mannerProactively providing status updates, raising issues, and communicating necessary information to appropriate team members on a regular basisPreparing, presenting, and participating in technical discussions and code reviewsContributing to the continued development of processes that improve the efficiency and quality of development projects; assisting in formulating standards and development practices to enhance development processesWorking with all departments to continuously improve products, processes, workflows, and customer experienceMaking recommendations and assisting in the implementation of new processes and toolsConsulting with other engineers to evaluate interfaces between hardware and embedded solutions, as well as the operational and performance requirements of the overall systemYour Experience and Background include:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.4-7+ years of related embedded firmware development experience, or equivalent professional experience.Experience with Agile methodologiesKnowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) desired4-7+ years of embedded device development experience utilizing object-oriented programming in C/C++.Able to effectively use and operate oscilloscopes, analyzers, power supplies, etc.Embedded Linux experience is a definite plusFPGA experience is a plusWorking with USB and/or Ethernet devices beneficialExperience with DC and stepper motors is a major plusWorking knowledge of source code management and configurationStrong understanding of development processes, principles and objectivesExperience in development through the entire life-cycle including design, architecture, and implementationExperience with implementation of security protocols and secure implementation of cryptographic techniques, and the documentation of the security aspects of system design and implementation is highly desiredProven analytical, planning, problem solving and decision-making skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skills for both a technical and non-technical audience; comfortable with direct communication with all levels of technical and business resourcesExcellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyInterested in the challenge, excitement, and responsibility of a fast-paced, growth environment; desire and ability to learn and apply new skills and technologies quicklyExperience with working in a highly collaborative and dynamic multi-team environmentMust be able to perform troubleshooting, development work in a consistent and logical mannerHighly motivated, results-oriented, self-starterAbility to effectively balance personal and professional lifeWhat we can offer you:Competitive salary and rewards packageCompetitive benefits and annual leave offering, allowing for work-life balanceA vibrant, welcoming & inclusive cultureExtensive career development opportunities and resources to maximize your potentialTo be a part of a global organization that is pioneering the hardware, software and services that allow people to confidently navigate the physical and digital worlds
