Job Type: Full-time Description: Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmaceutics Focus) Full-Time Faculty – Asst/Assoc/Prof Benefits Tuition Assistance Medical, Dental, Vision 401(k) – with Employer Contribution Job Description The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the South College School of Pharmacy, Knoxville, Tennessee, invites applications for a full-time, non‑tenure track, 12‑month continuing faculty appointment available for immediate start. While South College does not follow a tenure model, faculty enjoy opportunities for academic rank promotion and merit‑based annual salary advancement. The individual in this position will be primarily responsible for teaching PharmD students in our 3‑year, accelerated pharmacy program but will also be expected to contribute to new knowledge through scholarship and provide service to the School of Pharmacy, South College, and the greater Knoxville community. Academic rank (Asst./Assoc./Prof.) of the successful candidates will be commensurate with experience. Applicants with areas of expertise/interest within the broad discipline of pharmaceutical sciences are welcome to apply. Areas of priority expertise are pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical compounding, or a closely related field. Instructional duties include contribution to both required and elective courses delivered to both on‑ground and online/hybrid students in our PharmD program. Responsibilities Develop, coordinate, and teach content within the School of Pharmacy as appointed by the Department Chair to on‑ground and online/hybrid students. Contribute to two required laboratory courses that support the integration of pharmaceutics, compounding, and pharmaceutical calculations across both on‑ground and online/hybrid student pathways. Assist in the design, coordination, and delivery of immersion laboratory experiences for the online/hybrid cohort, ensuring alignment with course outcomes and professional competencies. Develop and offer an elective course that corresponds with expertise area(s) as needed. Use the School of Pharmacy's platforms for teaching and assessments, such as Canvas and ExamSoft. Provide mentorship and advisement for students in the School of Pharmacy as appointed by the Dean's Office and Department Chair. Communicate teaching and scholarship activities through frequent and effective communication with the Department Chair. Contribute to new knowledge through scholarship and research. Integrate and enhance collaborations among the clinical sciences and basic sciences in areas of research/scholarship, teaching, and service. Advance the service missions of the School of Pharmacy and South College. Act as an authoritative representative and advocate for the Department, the School of Pharmacy, and the College. Actively participate in committees within the Department, School of Pharmacy, and College, as appointed by the Department Chair, and participate in professional organizations. Operate within South College and School of Pharmacy policies. Undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chair. Accountability Deliver excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service. Requirements Education Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related field. PharmD with advanced training or professional experience in pharmaceutics may be considered. Experience and Training Strong academic credentials in areas of relevance to pharmacy, such as pharmaceutics. Pharmaceutical sciences or pharmacy teaching experience is strongly preferred. Experience with laboratory instruction, simulation, or immersion-based learning preferred. Experience or interest in teaching within online or hybrid learning environments is highly desirable. Contribute to new knowledge through scholarship in the individual's field of study or Scholarship of Teaching & Learning (SoTL). Knowledge, Skills, Ability Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Contribute to the educational and research missions of the department, school, and college. Record of excellence in teaching in pharmacy education (preferred).
