Senior Manager, Software Engineering

Role Description

Veeam Kasten is the leader in Kubernetes Backup and Disaster Recovery. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead an established, talented team of backend and frontend engineers building the next generation of cloud-native data protection.

In this role, your focus will be on execution, technical excellence, and talent retention. We need a hands-on leader who "speaks" Kubernetes fluently and has deep expertise in Go to guide architectural decisions and complement senior engineers. You will manage a full-stack team (Go backend/Vue.js frontend) and collaborate closely with Product Management to prioritize features and deliver a world-class user experience.

What You’ll Do

• Team Leadership & Development:
  • Lead and mentor an established team of Backend (Go) and Frontend (Vue.js) engineers
  • Focus on retention and individual professional growth through regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career planning
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative engineering culture within the existing group
• Technical Strategy & Guidance:
  • Serve as a technical subject matter expert in Kubernetes
  • Participate in architectural reviews and design discussions, ensuring solutions are scalable, secure, and cloud-native
  • Bridge the gap between backend complexity and frontend usability
  • Drive engineering best practices, including code quality, testing standards (unit/integration/e2e), and security
• Product Delivery & Collaboration:
  • Partner closely with Product Managers to define the roadmap, estimate effort, and prioritize the backlog
  • Collaborate with other Engineering Managers to identify dependencies, resolve bottlenecks, and align on cross-team technical initiatives
  • Balance the delivery of new features with the necessity of maintenance and technical debt reduction

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience managing software engineering teams, with a track record of delivering complex enterprise software
• Strong background in software development with Go is desired; however, a strong background in C, C++, and Java is acceptable
• Advanced knowledge of the Kubernetes ecosystem; understanding how to build applications for Kubernetes, not just run them on it
• Experience managing or working with frontend engineers; familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (Vue.js preferred, or React/Angular) and how they consume backend APIs
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally with Engineering Leaders, Product Management, Customer Support, and Sales to translate business requirements into technical specifications
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant industry experience
