Accounts Payable Specialist

The Accounts Payable Specialist supports a high-volume accounts payable function by processing invoices, managing email-based approvals, and maintaining accurate financial records. This full-time, contract-to-hire role offers long-term career stability, a collaborative team environment, and the opportunity to grow into a permanent position.

Responsibilities

• Manage and organize email-based approval workflows for incoming invoices from multiple offices.
• Verify and double-check invoice details to ensure accuracy before uploading into the accounts payable system.
• Process and upload approximately 50 or more invoices per week in a timely and organized manner.
• Communicate with more than 40 offices via email to secure and track invoice approvals.
• Use BST software to enter, review, and maintain accounts payable data.
• Utilize Microsoft Outlook for daily email communication, approvals, and administrative coordination.
• Perform high-accuracy data entry to support reliable financial records and reporting.
• Maintain clear documentation and records of invoice approvals and payments.
• Collaborate closely with the existing accounts payable team to share workload and support high-volume periods.
• Assist with general administrative tasks related to accounts payable as needed.

Essential Skills

• 12 years of accounts payable experience preferred, with openness to entry-level candidates who can learn quickly.
• Strong data entry skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to navigate and work with spreadsheet data in Microsoft Excel.
• Proficiency using Microsoft Outlook for professional email communication and approvals.
• Comfort working in a high-volume invoice environment, handling 50+ invoices per week.
• Strong written communication skills for clear, professional email correspondence.
• Ability to manage multiple email-based approval processes simultaneously.
• Demonstrated technical aptitude and ability to learn new software systems such as BST.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Open to entry-level candidates or recent graduates with strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn.
• Previous experience working with BST software is a plus but not required.
• Prior exposure to accounts payable processes, invoice processing, or general accounting support is beneficial.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and contribute to a supportive, cooperative culture.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple offices, approvals, and deadlines.
• Professionalism in written communication and handling business correspondence via email.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
