Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Lead Vascular Technologist, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic procedures using ultrasonography techniques. You will coordinate and lead activities within the designated location as directed by supervisor/manager. You will be responsible for the performance of non-invasive and invasive ultrasound procedures, making themselves available as subject matter experts to the team for these exams. You will work closely with other healthcare stakeholders to facilitate exceptional patient care and efficient completion of diagnostic studies and procedures while also promoting optimal unit operations. You will exceed SAMC ICARE standards while maintaining a clean, efficient, and safe work environment.

• You will utilize open, professional communication (verbal, non-verbal, and written) to directly interact with physicians, patients, guests, and other health team members
• You will make decisions of moderate difficulty that reflect both knowledge and good judgement
• You will handle confidential information regarding patient activities
• You will demonstrate an effective working knowledge of all equipment used in Radiology and related to their job functions
• You will participate in budget control
• You will work extended hours as needed to include evenings and weekends
• You will perform complete 2-dimensional, color flow, and Spectral Doppler exams according to protocol
• You will notify physicians of any positive findings that need attention prior to the patient's release
• You will provide preliminary measurements and interpretations of examinations
• You will perform necessary equipment checks and QC procedures and reports equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Maintains an adequate supply of materials for Radiology.
• You will assist in scheduling patients. Works with additional patients. Makes scheduling aware of cancellations or optimizes examination availability.
• You will review and revise lab protocols to maintain a high level of efficiency. Recommend changes to supervisor.
• You will attend required staff meetings and correlations conferences
• You will review performance and ensure compliance with accreditation, legal, and other regulatory requirements
• You will perform other duties as assigned by direct report
• You will serve as a clinical resource role model for all staff/physicians
• You will coordinate orientation for new staff/techs
• You will assist in completing 90-day evaluations for new employees
• You will coordinate daily assignments/procedures to ensure optimal operations
• You will provide constructive feedback to staff related to job performance
• If requested, tabulate monthly statistics for the area
• You will manage projects and perform additional assignments as requested

What qualifications you will need:

• Previous St. David's HealthCare sonography experience - preferred
• One year experience performing adult vascular exams - preferred
• Approved ultrasound technology education program or ARDMS recommended relevant work experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) from ARDMS
