Cleanroom Technician – Receiving

The Cleanroom Technician – Receiving supports a high-tech seed handling and packaging operation by working within the receiving team to manage incoming product, operate automated equipment, and maintain accurate inventory. This role involves repetitive lifting of up to 60 pounds, careful handling of seed products, and consistent adherence to safety and cleanliness standards in a modern, highly automated warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate high-tech warehouse equipment, including automated packaging and retrieval systems and conveyor systems, to support seed handling and packaging processes.
• Assist in receiving, unpacking, and organizing seed products, ensuring accurate inventory tracking and promptly reporting any discrepancies.
• Prepare and pack orders for shipment, ensuring items are securely packed, accurately labeled, and ready for on-time dispatch.
• Perform seed treatments, including chemical treatments, drying, and seed conditioning, following established procedures and safety guidelines.
• Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Apply 5S principles by regularly cleaning and organizing work areas, equipment, and tools to maintain a safe, efficient, and hygienic workspace.
• Work closely with other team members and departments to ensure smooth operations and timely order fulfillment.
• Perform repetitive tasks with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to maintain quality standards.
• Lift, move, and handle products weighing up to 60 pounds on a repetitive basis as part of daily operations.
• Support seasonal operational needs by working extended days and weekends during peak periods, as required.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
• Familiarity with automated warehouse systems and robotics.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to lift and move up to 60 pounds as required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.

• Flexibility to work extended days and weekends at critical times of the season.
• Approximately 1 year of related experience preferred in warehouse, manufacturing, or order picking environments.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with order picking, sampling, and general warehouse operations.
• Experience in manufacturing or production environments.
• Comfort working with automated machinery and learning new equipment.
• Understanding of 5S or similar workplace organization principles.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a larger team.

Work Environment

The role is based in a 250,000-square-foot, nearly new building that is temperature controlled and highly automated, providing a clean and efficient facility for seed handling and packaging. Most areas are very clean, though one department may be slightly dusty due to handling seed directly from bags. Ergonomics are a major focus, with adjustable-height tables, cushioned mats for standing, and chairs available in various departments to allow sitting when appropriate. The break room is clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, and lockers are provided for storing personal belongings. The standard shift runs Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with a goal for part of the team to move to second shift in December. Overtime is mandatory during peak season, typically from January through late April or early May, and may include Saturdays. Team size is around 100 people, with work performed largely independently but in proximity to other employees; listening to music is allowed with one headphone in while working. Dress code is casual and practical, including tennis shoes, jeans, leggings, sweatpants, crew neck sweatshirts without strings, t-shirts, or long sleeves. In one area, safety glasses and a lab coat are provided as part of the required protective attire.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
