Referral Coordinator

We are looking for a Medical Appointment Scheduler who shares our core values and is ready to make a meaningful impact. Job Purpose The purpose of this role is to serve as the coordinator for referred patients and scheduling appointments between doctors and patients. Key Responsibilities Maintain and creating professional and positive rapports with referring practices. Confirming referral information (e.g., doctor and patient information). Managing correspondence with referring providers. Determine when an immediate appointment should or should not be made based on the appropriate level of urgency. Navigating practice management system to ensure that appointments/referrals are scheduled appropriately. Upload clinical information (charts, notes, test results, imaging) for referred patients. Coordinate and schedule referral appointments. Follow up on outstanding or incomplete referrals, including missed appointments, to support continuity of care and rescheduling when appropriate. Ensure that consultation reports, results, and recommendations from referred visits are received and properly filed in the patient’s chart. Maintain strict confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA and clinic policies when handling patient and payer information. Identify trends or barriers in the referral process and recommend workflow improvements to enhance patient access and provider satisfaction. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Prior scheduling, healthcare referral coordination, or ophthalmology experience is preferred but not required. Prior referral management experience is preferred but not required. Excellent computer, customer service, and telephone skills. Ability to manage multiple phone calls/lines #J-18808-Ljbffr
