Our services are available in 12 locations throughout New York City. Position Overview The Senior Crisis Intervention Specialist is the first point of contact for potential clients and will provide information and referrals, conduct intake screening for services and safety assessments, and assist survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other gender‑violence situations. The role includes providing information on the New York State Office of Victims Services and helping clients file compensation applications. Responsibilities Provides crisis intervention for callers focused on trauma, victimization, and related issues. Conducts initial screenings and safety assessments of survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, and other gender‑violence situations. Carries out shelter screening and assessment. Provides information on New York State Office of Victims Services (OVS) to all clients or potential clients. Assists in filing OVS compensation applications for clients. Provides information and referrals to callers. Manages webchat (Resource Connect) and connects callers to services as needed. Coordinates hotline backup schedule. Connects clients to counselors for comprehensive assessments. Participates in training staff and students for hotline responsibilities. Maintains accurate case records and utilizes internal database systems to track services. Facilitates workshops or other group activities as needed. Provides training or coaching to new staff around helpline screening. Liaises with other departments to ensure all callers are assisted. Tracks trends in callers and seeks new resources for clients not eligible for services. Collaborates with the data team on enhancements to the intake process and danger‑assessment training. Updates the agency database for all new clients. Other duties as assigned by supervisor. Requirements BA Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Counseling required. Fluency in Spanish required. Successful work experience in a crisis intervention specialist role for at least one year. Ability to work with clients of diverse ethnic and socio‑economic backgrounds. Training to work with clients experiencing sexual exploitation, domestic violence and other gender‑related issues. Experience with immigrants and sensitivity to issues surrounding immigrant communities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with professionals across disciplines. Proficiency in multitasking and organizational skills. Budgeted Salary: $30.98–$34.22 per hour (annualized base salary $56,384–$62,283), based on experience pursuant to wage scale in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Work position is Full‑time; Hourly/Non‑Exempt Work schedule is currently hybrid; must be able to meet job location schedule obligations.
