Consumer Loan Funding Specialist
WEOKIE Federal Credit Union
Job Description
Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION
The Consumer Loan Funding Specialist is responsible for funding consumer loans accurately, efficiently, and compliantly across both the Direct/Centralized Lending channel and the Indirect dealership channel. This position manages loans from approval through funding, performs final review and post-funding audit of loan documentation, communicates directly with members and dealership partners, and adjusts priorities between channels based on business need, staffing levels, and loan volume.
This position is regularly scheduled Tuesday through Saturday in order to extend WEOKIE's consumer lending capability into Saturday, when member and dealership demand is highest. The role enables members to complete and fund a loan on a Saturday rather than waiting until the following business day, and provides same-day dealership funding support during peak weekend vehicle sales volume. Saturday coverage is a core purpose of this position, not an incidental scheduling requirement.
Because the position operates with limited on-site supervision on Saturday, it requires sound judgment, thorough knowledge of lending policy and regulatory requirements, and the ability to take appropriate independent action within established authority limits.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES
Direct / Centralized Lending Funding
- Manages consumer loan files from approval through funding and coordinates with members to complete the funding process using DocuSign and other approved technologies.
- Conducts a thorough final audit of each loan prior to funding to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with WEOKIE policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Reviews loan documents with members to confirm understanding of terms, payments, and any insurance or ancillary products selected.
- Communicates clearly with members regarding required documentation, conditions, funding steps, timelines, and loan status.
Indirect Lending Funding
- Performs close inspection of all documents received in the indirect loan document package for quality assurance and to ensure full compliance with program requirements.
- Reviews dealership-submitted loan packages for completeness, accuracy, and regulatory compliance, including title and lien perfection, insurance verification, and GAP or extended warranty documentation.
- Oversees the daily ACH process to ensure reserves and loan proceeds are funded to the correct dealership account on the day the loan is booked.
- Opens share accounts for applicants who become member-owners as a result of an accepted indirect loan application.
- Communicates with dealerships regarding missing documents, title issues, funding exceptions, and contract corrections, and follows up consistently until timely correction is obtained.
- Maintains accurate and current records of each loan disbursement transaction.
- Maintains positive working relationships with the indirect dealership network while keeping the best interests of the credit union and the member-owner at the forefront.
Cross-Channel and General
- Completes daily auditing of funded loans to confirm that compliance and procedural requirements are met.
- Ensures proper policies, procedures, risk mitigation activities, and operating controls are followed, and reports gaps in policies, procedures, and operating controls to leadership so that member impact and risk are mitigated.
- Funds within established authority limits and escalates exceptions in accordance with departmental procedure. On Saturdays, escalates to the designated manager on call.
- Prioritizes workload between the Direct/Centralized and Indirect channels based on business need, staffing levels, and loan volume, following priority guidance established by the Centralized Lending Manager and the Indirect Lending Manager.
- Ensures all loan information and system data are accurately maintained within MeridianLink, Origence, FISERV DNA, DocuSign, Eltropy, Microsoft Office applications, and other approved lending systems.
- Collaborates with underwriting, branch personnel, lending staff, and leadership to ensure timely loan fulfillment.
- Maintains member and organizational confidentiality and completes all required training.
- May perform occasional business-related errands such as document delivery via FedEx, UPS, or postal services. Mileage reimbursed per policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
CRITICAL RESULTS
- Members receive same-day loan document review and funding support on Saturdays, extending full-service consumer lending beyond the standard business week.
- Dealership contracts received on Saturday are funded same-day when the submitted package is complete, meeting the funding timeliness terms of the dealership agreement.
- Consumer loans in both channels are funded accurately and timely, and all documentation meets regulatory and credit union standards.
- Funding errors, exceptions, and rework are consistently minimized.
- Reserves and loan proceeds are disbursed to the correct dealership account on the day the loan is booked.
- Members and dealership partners receive superior service and clear, timely communication.
- Independent action is taken appropriately and within established authority across a variety of situations, particularly during Saturday coverage.
- Losses, errors, and risks are controlled and mitigated through adherence to all applicable policies, procedures, and operating controls.
QUALIFICATIONS
A. Specialized or Technical Knowledge and Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years of consumer lending, loan processing, funding, or financial institution experience required; three or more years preferred.
- Experience with both direct and indirect lending preferred.

- Strong attention to detail and the ability to analyze and validate complex information.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment with limited on-site supervision.
- Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of lending processes, documentation, and compliance preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and lending systems such as MeridianLink, Origence, FISERV DNA, DocuSign, and Eltropy preferred.
