Senior Payroll Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to support the administration and processing of field payroll for multiple business entities across national and international locations. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, including wages, overtime, prevailing wage requirements, union rates, garnishments, deductions, and tax withholdings. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, including wages, overtime, prevailing wage requirements, union rates, garnishments, deductions, and tax withholdings. This position will also assist with payroll compliance, reporting, workflow management, and training and development of payroll team members. Key Responsibilities Payroll Administration Assist with the administration and processing of field payroll for multiple business entities and locations. Implement and maintain payroll procedures that support efficient, accurate, and timely payroll processing. Process payroll involving regular wages, overtime, union rates, prevailing wages, deductions, garnishments, and benefit expenses. Ensure accurate pay adjustments related to Davis-Bacon and other prevailing wage requirements . Maintain payroll-related files, records, and documentation. Respond to requests for wage verifications and other payroll-related information. Support the preparation and submission of certified payroll, union, unemployment, and other required reporting . Assist with special payroll reports and analysis for management. May support the processing of international or Canadian payroll. Payroll Compliance Ensure payroll processing complies with applicable federal, state, and international tax and employment regulations . Apply appropriate tax withholdings and deductions. Stay current on payroll laws, regulations, and industry requirements. Help identify and resolve payroll discrepancies and compliance issues. Escalate complex payroll matters to the Payroll Manager as appropriate. Team Support & Workflow Management Collaborate with payroll team members to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy. Help manage workflow and priorities across the payroll team. Train and support payroll team members on processes, procedures, and best practices. Promote a collaborative, customer-focused, and continuous-learning environment. Assist the Payroll Manager with process improvements and special projects as needed. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Five or more years of related payroll experience and/or training. Associate degree in a related field is a plus. Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation preferred. Strong understanding of payroll processing, deductions, taxes, and compliance requirements. Experience with union payroll, garnishments, prevailing wages, or certified payroll is highly preferred. Experience with Davis-Bacon requirements is a plus. Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word . Experience with Vista and/or Paycor is preferred. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate effectively with managers, employees, clients, and coworkers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions. Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
