Job Announcement Position Information Position Title Student Services Generalist Campus Cranford Department Advising, Career, and Transfer Full-time, Part-time, Adjunct Full Time Exempt or Non-Exempt Regular,Temporary, or Grant Regular General Description The Student Services Generalist is the primary contact with students seeking entry into the College. The Generalist will be responsible for guiding students through the registration process by assisting with course selection leading to degree completion. The Generalist will perform academic advising functions and engage in institutional retention initiatives. Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities Provides direction, process overview and information to students, parents, and others regarding: the College admission process, registration, financial aid, student account functions, College programs, activities and student services. Provides referrals for the Americans with Disabilities Act and other special need. Monitors services and flows of traffic in the Student Development One Stop Centers. Responsible for the review and correct payment processing, posting of account charges and payments, processing tuition waivers, resolving account inquiries, and receiving documentation from special billing type students. Develops academic and individual action plans in caseload to guide students toward on-time graduation; implements student retention programs as needed. Coordinate effective communication to student caseload based on division major. This includes, but is not limited to phone calls, text messages, emails, and utilizing retention platform tools to reach out to students. Collaborate with the academic division on updates and trainings pertaining to any changes with the academic catalog, program policies, programs, and procedures. Assist students with student planning as it relates to course selection and registering for classes. Assists with new student orientations, financial literacy and other programs as assigned and provides on-going information to students, potential students, and parents regarding policies, programs, and procedures. Reads, interprets, and communicates College policies and procedures. Recommend improvements in department procedures. Collaborate with other staff/administrators/faculty to identify improvements needed in procedures and communication. Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor. Education Requirements Bachelor's degree required. Experience Outstanding customer service and communication skills. Experience working with diverse student populations. Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Competencies and Skills Required Must possess strong interpersonal skills to interact tactfully and courteously with students, the general public, faculty, and other staff members. Must be a "quick study" in order to quickly grasp knowledge of policies and procedures relating to every aspect of student services that a prospective or current student may utilize. Analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to take required initiative to solve problems. Ability to collaborate with others. Commitment to student service and a diverse population. Must be comfortable with using multiple tech platforms to effectively assist students. Physical Demands and Work Environment This position's duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled. Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. No or very limited exposure to physical risk. Some travel required. Terms of Employment Full-time. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Position may be required to work at any campus at any time.
