Solutions Engineer

Threekit is looking for a hands-on Solutions Engineer to join our Sales Engineering team as a client-facing technical partner who demonstrates, configures, and articulates the value of Threekit's AI-native configure-price-quote platform. This isn't legacy CPQ with AI features bolted on; you'll show prospects how AI ingests messy catalogs, infers configuration and pricing rules, and produces accurate quotes in a fraction of the time and effort traditional CPQ demands.

This is a growth role for someone building depth in applied AI and quote-to-cash solutioning while operating with strong fundamentals in pre-sales and solution engineering. You'll partner closely with Account Executives through discovery, solution positioning, and demos, and work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Demo, and Forward-Deployed teams to keep every solution technically accurate.

The successful candidate must reside within a reasonable daily commuting distance of our Chicago office and be in the office for 2 days per week.

Threekit is the Channel Sales Platform for Complex Products, a modern configure-to-quote workflow designed for how channel selling actually works. Threekit gives dealers and customers a faster way to select, visualize, configure, and quote complex products without the rigid structure of traditional CPQ systems. What You'll Do

Sales & Customer Engagement

• Partner closely with Account Executives to support deals through technical discovery, solution positioning, and demonstrations.
• Participate in client-facing meetings and calls to map customer quoting workflows, product rules, approval paths, and the manual work AI can take off the table.
• Deliver customized demonstrations and proofs-of-concept that show AI-driven configuration, pricing, and quoting running against the customer's own catalog and rules.
• Respond to technical questions during the sales cycle, including RFP and RFI contributions.

Solution Design & AI CPQ Enablement

• Assist in designing AI-native configure-price-quote solutions aligned with customer outcomes, commercial policy, and business requirements.
• Use the platform's AI to stand up product catalogs, configuration rules, and pricing logic in demo environments, including CRM and ERP integration points.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Demo, and Forward-Deployed teams to ensure technical accuracy.
• Translate AI behavior, configuration logic, pricing structures, and integration concepts into clear explanations for technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical Growth & Market Awareness

• Build working knowledge of Threekit's AI architecture and how it drives the configuration engine, pricing model, and quoting stack.
• Stay informed on applied AI, CPQ, and quote-to-cash trends, including how legacy vendors are responding.
• Improve demo assets, documentation, and enablement materials.

Collaboration & Team Contribution

• Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth handoffs and aligned expectations.
• Contribute to team knowledge-sharing and best practices.

What Catches Our Eye

• 4-6 years in a client-facing technical role (Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Consultant).
• Strong technical aptitude and ability to learn new technologies quickly.
• Foundational understanding of web technologies, APIs, and SaaS architectures.
• Working understanding of how businesses configure products, price them, and get to a quote, plus a real interest in applied AI.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Skills

• Hands-on experience with a CPQ or product configuration platform (Salesforce CPQ, Oracle, PROS, Tacton, Configit, or similar), ideally with a view on where they fall short.
• Hands-on experience with JavaScript, HTML, or React.
• Exposure to LLM-powered products, prompting, or judging the quality of AI output.
• Experience supporting demos or proofs-of-concept.
• Familiarity with eCommerce, CRM, ERP, or cloud platforms, and how quote and order data moves between them.

This role will report directly to the Director, Sales Engineering.

Threekit's salary ranges are determined based on market data for our industry and company size, and take into account work location, skills, experience, and education/certifications.
