Make a meaningful impact working with elementary students as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive contract position tailored to your expertise. Positions are available in two highly collaborative elementary classroom settings—ASD and Therapeutic Programs—with dedicated paraprofessional assistance and robust multidisciplinary resources.
Opportunities include:
- Full-time roles within specialized ASD or Therapeutic classrooms
- Manage elementary caseloads, working alongside 3 paraprofessionals per room
- Benefit from strong interdisciplinary support—Speech, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy
- Focus on instruction and engagement: no toileting or lifting responsibilities
- Work with 10 or fewer students in a nurturing, structured, and positive environment
- Enjoy an atmosphere where collaboration and teamwork are highly valued
Qualifications:
- Valid Michigan Special Education Certification
- Experience working with ASD (for ASD Program) or behavioral/therapeutic populations (for Therapeutic Program) preferred
- Familiarity with elementary-aged students
- Committed to fostering inclusion, growth, and a safe learning community
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational programs tailored to each student’s needs
- Facilitate academic, social, and behavioral skill-building through evidence-based practices
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support holistic student progress
- Communicate proactively with families and staff to nurture student development
- Lead and mentor paraprofessionals in delivering classroom interventions
