Course Assistant

Job Summary:
In consultation with department management but working with a high degree of independence, applies in-depth knowledge of department requirements to determine the courses to be taught by the department / school / college toward the graduate degree. Takes into consideration the proper sequencing of courses for progression toward degree, courses taught in other departments, and other complicating factors. Makes recommendations for replacement courses. Work is reviewed by results achieved. The Course Assistant is responsible for assisting the Master of Science course leader(s) in all activities that support the course planning, conduct, and evaluation of the MS courses. This effort Iinvolves conducting curriculum planning and course scheduling in consultation with department / college / school management and facultythe MS faculty and the Program Director. Also manages the curriculum mapping process using course syllabi and Illios course management tool. Analyzes enrollment trends.

DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Identify the functions or tasks that employees in the job perform. 20 Working with a high degree of independence, in consultation with Program Director and course faculty, plans courses and timelines for courses to be offered each term based upon program requirements, enrollment trends, course restrictions, and faculty availability. 10 Recommends to department management replacement courses when necessary. 10 Projects future course planning based upon faculty availability, taking into account sabbaticals, fellowships and grants, internal and external administrative assignments, and courses taught in other departments and / or other universities. 10 Devises solutions to classroom space and scheduling problems, taking into account the curriculum needs of students, the needs of faculty, and available options. 20 Advises department / school / college chair / dean on complex curricular issues and recommends courses of action when new courses, programs are introduced. Regularly updates and tracks courses against MS program curriculum map. Employee will alert Program leadership of potentially missing or unmet course objectives.5
Utilizing extensive knowledge of course content, facilitates new course approval and curriculum revisions through interaction with the Coordination of College Policy, Academic Senate, or similar organization. 15Researches and analyzes academic and program trends that may impact course offerings and curriculum. Participates in the development of program assessment tools to evaluate program objectives and relevance.
10Provides assistance to program faculty in the form of managing student attendance and enrollment in courses, identifying education technology needs and other course support functions as identified by the Program Director.

- Bachelor's Degree in Global Health and 3+ years of experience or equivalent experience/training
