Position Summary

The Senior Accountant, General Ledger will have a broad scope of accounting responsibilities aimed at maintaining the integrity, accuracy and completeness of the organization's financial records. This position works cross functionally with Clinical Operations and FP&A teams to deliver clean and timely data to ensure leadership has accurate data for informed decision-making.

Essential Functions

• Prepare and review of monthly journal entries/reconciliations relating to clinical trial accounts, leases, accounts payable and receivables, accrued expense including clinical trial accounting, prepaid expenses and license fees, and other areas as assigned.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements disclosures for both internal and external presentation, related to clinical trials.
• Remain current with GAAP and IFRS standards and assist in the assessment and implementation of significant new accounting guidance and policies across the organization. Possess knowledge of US GAAP (ASC 606)
• Provide guidance on complex accounting issues to less experienced team members and colleagues outside of the accounting team.
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement variances.
• Ensure SOX compliance across accounting functions as part of the day-to-day operational accounting responsibilities.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and ensure consistency of policies/procedures across the company (with deviations as appropriate).
• Contribute to process improvements in company activities to enhance accounting/finance operational efficiency inclusive of training initiatives.
• Support enhancements to financial processes aiming for increased efficiency and scalability.
• Manage internal and external audit requests providing necessary documentation and support, and facilitating the resolution of any identified control deficiencies.
• Support internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and prevent fraud.
• Create, edit and adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and process improvements as needed.
• Perform ad-hoc and cross-functional duties and/or projects as assigned to support business needs and provide developmental opportunities.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in accounting required
• 5+ years of related accounting experience with progressively greater responsibilities required.
• In-depth understanding and application of GAAP required
• Experience with financial data analysis and preparation of financial reports required
• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics D365 preferred
• Experience with Clinical Trial accounting and analysis is a plus
• Public accounting audit experience is a plus.
• Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.
• CRO accounting a plus.

Working Environment / Physical Environment

• This position works on-site in El Segundo, CA as noted in the offer letter
• Regular work schedule is Monday - Friday, within standard business hours. Flexibility is available with manager approval.
• Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
• Lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$120,500 (entry-level qualifications) to $132,500 (highly experienced) annually
