Must have open availability to work Saturdays nights 5pm-2am along with weekday nights ranging from 5pm-1am.

Position Overview

Thai Canteen is seeking a dynamic, adaptable team member for a Line Cook Prep / Server position. This crucial role bridges our front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) operations during our high-volume dinner and late-night services.

You will manage ticket flow, prepare cold-side menu items, and ensure seamless communication between our service staff and kitchen team. If you thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, possess sharp attention to detail, and are eager to work with a dedicated culinary team, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

• Cross-Team Coordination: Act as the liaison between FOH and kitchen teams to manage ticket timing and order flow during peak dinner and late-night rushes.
• Cold-Side & Station Prep: Prepare salads and stir fries according to Thai Canteen’s standardized recipes. Wash, chop, portion, and organize daily ingredients.
• Station Maintenance: Keep prep stations fully stocked, clean, and organized throughout the shift. Monitor inventory levels and alert kitchen leadership when items need restocking.
• Ticket & Quality Control: Review ticket modifications and allergy warnings. Conduct final quality and presentation checks before dishes go out to guests.
• Food Safety & Hygiene: Rigorously adhere to food safety, health department, and sanitation guidelines at all times.
• Team Player: Assist fellow crew members across BOH and FOH to maintain high-energy, efficient restaurant operations.

Qualifications

Required:

• Valid California Food Handler Certification
• Reading Size 10-14 Font Print from 4 Feet Away
• Ability to work fast paced and under pressure
• Work in loud, busy, hot environment

Preferred:

• 1+ years of experience in high-volume restaurant BOH or kitchen operations
• Fluency in Lao or Thai (or a strong willingness to learn key kitchen phrases for effective daily communication)
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Excellent multitasking, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Strong attention to detail with high commitment to food quality and presentation
• Background in customer service or front-of-house hospitality
