Maintenance Technician (Blue Island Site)

The Bradford Labs Maintenance Technician is responsible for the upkeep, troubleshooting, and repair of building infrastructure and systems supporting the manufacturing facility. This includes general building maintenance, basic electrical troubleshooting, plumbing repairs, and carpentry work. This role is distinct from the Production Mechanic position, which focuses on production line equipment; the Maintenance Technician instead focuses on the building and facility itself.

This position plays an important part in keeping the facility safe, functional, and compliant with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), while supporting a wide range of building repair and upkeep needs across the site.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Building and Facility Maintenance

• Perform routine building maintenance and repairs throughout the facility, including doors, walls, fixtures, and general infrastructure.
• Respond to facility work orders and prioritize repairs based on urgency and impact to operations.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and functional building environment in compliance with GMP standards.

Electrical and Electronic Troubleshooting

• Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical issues throughout the facility, including lighting, outlets, and panels.
• Diagnose and correct basic electronic or control issues on building systems as needed.
• Escalate complex electrical issues to licensed electricians or outside contractors when required.

Plumbing

• Repair and replace pipe fittings, valves, and related plumbing components.
• Address leaks, clogs, and other plumbing issues throughout the building.
• Coordinate with outside plumbing contractors on larger-scale repairs as needed.

Carpentry and Structural Repairs

• Perform basic carpentry repairs, including drywall patching, minor framing touch-ups, and door or hardware adjustments.
• Complete minor structural repairs to walls, ceilings, and building fixtures.

Documentation and Safety Compliance

• Document maintenance activities, work orders, and repairs according to company procedure.
• Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures and PPE requirements.
• Support facility inspections and audits as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training in building maintenance, electrical work, or a related trade preferred.
• Basic electrical or electronics troubleshooting experience required.
• Experience with basic carpentry and drywall repair preferred.
• Experience replacing pipe fittings and performing general plumbing repairs preferred.
• Welding experience or a machine shop background is a strong plus, though not required.
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple work orders across the facility.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality required.

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders for extended periods.
• Frequent lifting, carrying, and use of hand and power tools.
• Ability to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in tight spaces, at heights, and around building systems safely.

Working Environment

• Facility-wide environment within a personal care manufacturing site, including production floor, mechanical rooms, and building common areas.
• Exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and general building system conditions.
• Must comply with all safety, hygiene, and GMP requirements at all times.
