Application Development AS400 Developer

Requirements

• 5 or more years of experience in IBM i (AS/400, iSeries) application development and systems administration.

• Proficiency in RPGLE, ILE RPG, Control Language (CL), and SQL on DB2 for i.

• Experience with IBM i work management, subsystem configuration, job queue scheduling, and user profile security.

• Experience in DB2 database optimization, indexing strategies, and automated SFTP/FTP data interchange.

• Experience with third-party managed hosting coordination, disaster recovery testing, and QAUDJRN audit logging.

• Experience in legacy data extraction, schema mapping, and application modernization for cloud migrations.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, modify, and optimize mission-critical legacy applications written in RPGLE, RPG IV, and Control Language.

• Troubleshoot operational defects, investigate batch execution failures, and implement regulatory business logic.

• Administer IBM i job queues, active subsystems, application security permissions, and system audit journals.

• Tune DB2 for i database performance by optimizing SQL queries, physical files, and logical indexes.

• Configure and monitor secure automated SFTP data pipelines connecting external partner systems.

• Coordinate with infrastructure hosting vendors on operating system patching, storage windows, and disaster recovery.

• Extract and document legacy system data flows and database schemas to facilitate cloud migration initiatives.
