Preschool Teacher

Auburndale Learning Academy’s purpose is to provide safe and loving childcare to families by creating nurturing, healthy, and developmentally appropriate environments that foster children’s social, emotional, intellectual, and physical growth. Our facilities offer Reggio Emilia–inspired, year-round early childhood education and care. The Preschool Teacher is a dedicated early childhood educator responsible for a classroom of 3- to 5-year-old children. The teacher collaborates with an assistant teacher, families, and staff to create a rich, child-centered learning environment inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, emphasizing inquiry, exploration, and collaboration. What You'll Do Duties Create and maintain a classroom environment that is beautiful, organized, and conducive to exploration and discovery. Foster positive, nurturing teacher–child interactions that support emotional growth and social development. Design and implement curriculum experiences rooted in the Reggio Emilia Approach, following the interests and curiosities of the children. Develop and adapt weekly learning plans that include individual and small-group investigations, hands-on projects, and emergent learning opportunities. Provide children with a consistent daily rhythm that supports both structure and flexibility for meaningful exploration. Engage intentionally with children throughout the day to extend learning through questions, reflection, and shared discovery. Document children’s learning through observation, photos, portfolios, and authentic assessment. Conduct ongoing assessments to track developmental progress and inform individualized learning experiences. Support children with diagnosed or suspected special needs through individualized plans and inclusive teaching practices. Build strong, trusting relationships with families through open communication and collaboration. Schedule and complete family meetings and conferences to discuss children’s development and learning progress. Participate in reflective coaching, professional development, and ongoing self-assessment. Maintain communication with administrative and support staff to address individual child or family needs. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements High School Diploma TB test and background checks are required. Must have a valid state-issued ID; a valid KY driver’s license is preferred. Must have reliable transportation. Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with basic computer applications (MS Office, data systems, internet). Honest, dependable, and organized, with the ability to meet deadlines. Self-motivated and capable of working independently and as part of a team. Nice To Have CDA (Child Development Associate) Deep understanding of the Reggio Emilia philosophy and emergent, inquiry-based learning Must be able to lift, push, pull or otherwise exert force up to 50 lbs.
