Description

American Traveler is hiring a Night Shift RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring an active PA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of PCU/telemetry experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting
• 13-week assignment on night shift, open to 3x12 or 4x12 schedules (19:00-07:30)
• Patient ratio of 1:6
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Cardiac telemetry monitoring with remote and on-unit capabilities
• Any charting/EMR system experience accepted, Cerner experience preferred

Requirements

• Active PA or Compact RN license required
• Minimum 1 year of PCU/telemetry nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications only)
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience managing respiratory conditions including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and ABG interpretation
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response protocols
• Charge nurse, teaching hospital, and community hospital experience preferred
• PICC line management and thrombolytic agent experience preferred
• Experience with total joint replacement and traction care preferred
• Two supervisor references preferred
• SSN, DOB, DL, and RTO required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide nursing care for cardiac, telemetry, neurological, and post-surgical patient populations
• Manage cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration responsibilities
• Perform wound care, isolation precautions/PPE protocols, and surgical drain management
• Candidates must be willing to float to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius if needed
• Must be available to work every other holiday
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility based on driver's license address
• Local candidates are not accepted
• Only one submission permitted to a WVU Medicine facility at a time
• Former permanent employees must have been separated for at least 2 years before applying through an agency
• Travelers who complete a cumulative year within the WVU Medicine system must take a two-year break before returning
• Travel pairs may be accepted based on facility need, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this position
