Job Description University Police Services, Southern Command invites applications for University Police Officer II (PO2), [R0145468] (multiple positions open). Role of the Position University Police Officer II is a recognized law‑enforcement credential. Candidates must be a certified police academy graduate with a Category 1 P.O.S.T. certification, completed field training, and have permanent status as a Police Officer 1 and 2. Assignments may be made to any campus in the Nevada System of Higher Education, including the College of Southern Nevada, Desert Research Institute, Nevada State College, and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Responsibilities Protect university employees, students, and the general public. Patrol and safeguard university properties and surrounding areas. Conduct traffic investigations and enforce traffic regulations. Investigate criminal and non‑criminal incidents. Prepare for security and law‑enforcement activities related to special events. Appear in court as required. Maintain and operate assigned equipment. Perform special assignments related to law‑enforcement and peace‑officer functions. Maintain law and order and carry out additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High‑school graduation or equivalent and one year of law‑enforcement experience; OR Associate of Arts degree or equivalent coursework in criminal justice, police science, psychology, or a closely related field and six months of law‑enforcement experience; OR One year of experience as a University Police Officer I in Nevada State service. Valid driver’s license at the time of appointment and throughout employment. May be subjected to psychological and polygraph testing. Must meet minimum standards for appointment as a peace officer under Nevada statutes. Undergo a pre‑employment screening for controlled substances. Testing Notice Comprehensive background check will be conducted. Applicants required to complete the RECIPROCITY POST HIRE PHYSICAL FITNESS TEST within six weeks of hire. Position is open only to peace officers who meet the PO2 credentials or will meet Nevada reciprocity requirements. Benefits and Salary Grade 40 Step 1, salary $80,763.84 per year.
