About Our Client
Highly successful global company - role based in their Canada HQ in Toronto. Working in a collaborative legal department, directly with the General Counsel and senior business stakeholders.
Job Description
The varied Legal Counsel responsibilities include:
- Advise on varied legal matters.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and agreements.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Manage and mitigate legal risks for the company.
- Work closely with internal teams to provide proactive legal support.
- Handle legal disputes and liaise with external counsel as needed.
- Stay updated on legal developments impacting the transport and distribution industry.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on legal issues when necessary.
The Successful Applicant
The successful Legal Counsel should have:
- JD or LLB.
- Admitted to the Ontario Law Society (in good standing).
- 5+ years relevant legal experience (in-house, private practice, or combined).
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts (domestic and international).
- Ability to identify and manage legal risks and compliance matters effectively.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving capabilities.
- Strong drafting skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively and handle multiple priorities.
