Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: - Previous charge experience - Patient ratio experience - Skills in arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, central line care, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, and interpretation of arterial blood gases Description: The position involves working within a mixed acuity unit focusing on orthopedic and neuro surgical care. Candidates must have experience with managing various patient conditions including total hip and knee replacements, orthopedic spine surgery, and neuro spine surgery. The nursing role includes responsibilities in telemetry, patient assessment, vital sign monitoring, medication administration, and care planning. Staffing support includes interdisciplinary teams such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and pharmacy. The unit requires floating to different patients as needed based on varying acuity levels. Expected night shift patient ratios are generally 4:1. Skills in starting and maintaining intravenous lines, managing cardiac drips, and tracheostomy care are essential for this role. This position aims to provide comprehensive care to a diverse group of patients within the unit.
