Physical Therapist

Position Summary The Physical Therapist will float on different units within the hospital. The clinician will evaluate patients, determine appropriate plans of care, provide treatment, educate patients, and make recommendations for follow‑up care. The position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. with weekend rotation and a $3 an hour weekend differential. Core Functions Evaluate a patient’s functional abilities and limitations, determine if intervention is needed, and establish a plan of care and treatment goals within departmental time frames. Implement individualized treatment plans, provide skilled treatment safely, assess ongoing effectiveness, and modify plans as indicated while involving patients and caregivers in decision making. Document according to professional practice guidelines, completing records within established time frames and reflecting evidence‑based techniques. Communicate patient information, evaluation and treatment results to physicians, nurses, families, and the interdisciplinary team, including timely case‑management and problem‑solving. Adapt to caseload, scheduling, and staffing shifts, taking initiative in other patient‑care areas as needed. Supervise and delegate personnel (PTA, ATC, therapy technician, student), participate in training and orientation, and ensure competency before delegation. Participate in departmental meetings, process improvement activities, and meet productivity standards set by the department. Interact with all staff levels, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts regarding patient care and with physician offices to report, request or clarify information. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an APTA‑accredited College of Physical Therapy or equivalent. Current Physical Therapy license in the state of practice (or the ability to obtain one within six months for internationally trained candidates per California regulations). BLS certification. Demonstrated clinical competency, experience, training, and education required for the role. Proficiency with common computer software applications in an automated patient‑care environment, and with equipment such as exam tables, evaluation tools, and therapeutic modalities.
